February is Heart Health Awareness Month. So for the rest of the month, the blog is going to focus on exactly that.
Because as runners (and really, as human beings), all the strength and fitness in the world doesn’t mean much without a strong, healthy ticker to back it up. Heart disease is a leading cause of illness and death among adults, with everything from cigarettes to fast food to cable TV conspiring to keep it that way.
As runners and athletes, most of you are way ahead of the game when it comes to preventing heart disease and staying healthy. Being physically conscious and reasonably active is a big, big part of making sure that you and your heart are around for a long time to come.
But there’s still a lot to learn, no matter who you are. So for the month of February, we’re going to be talking about what runners, athletes, and folks in general can do to educate themselves, keep healthy, and make sure our hearts are firing on all cylinders.
After all, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, which means we need to be doing the right thing for our hearts, our minds, and the ones we love. Stay tuned!

I enjoy the ease into 5K app. Are you considering adding a heart rate monitor capability to the app?
Hi Forest,
Thanks for commenting. We currently are not looking into adding a heart rate monitor to the app, but perhaps we will look into it.
I would love that addition as well. Currently I have to wear a watch to track it separately. It would be nice to have all my workout info in one spot.
