What happened?
This morning we learned that posting to Twitter from our apps stopped working. It turns out Twitter has changed their API, which means that the now old way of posting does not work anymore. They have announced this change on their website but unfortunately we have failed to notice it.
Similarly, earlier this week we found out that posts published to Facebook from our apps no longer appear on your friend’s News Feed but are just posted on your Timeline. This is obviously a problem. When the post doesn’t appear on the News Feed most of your friends won’t know about your workout.
What are we doing about it?
Unfortunately fixing both of these issues requires an app update. We have just finished development of version 3.3 of our apps and that update is pending Apple’s review. This update addresses a number of bugs and will introduce RunHelper Connect – which is the biggest feature we’ve added to our apps since our version 1.0 release.
We are starting work on the Facebook and Twitter fixes (app version 3.3.1), and estimate to have it ready in about a week’s time. How long Apple takes to approve that update is anyone’s guess but based on past experience, we think that it should take no more than 2-3 weeks until version 3.3.1 is available for download.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this is causing, and have taken steps to ensure we take notice of upcoming Facebook and Twitter changes as they are announced so we have our apps ready before they take effect.
